  I have taken my dogs to Banfield (both Los Altos and Mae Anne) for the last 3 years. My first pup was on the puppy plan which I can't recommend enough. Fantastic program for a puppy's first year. After that however, I found that taking them elsewhere is in their best interest. It is easy to get an appointment a few days out for routine visits, but I prefer more thorough evaluations than what I always seem to get. I called recently (at 4pm) because my dog had been throwing up and dry heaving for 24+ hours and I was extremely concerned that something was clearly wrong. The gal on the phone did not seem concerned and told me that the soonest they would see her was going to be for a 10:30-11am drop off the next day. I decided to call other clinics in the area and Baring Bvld Veterinary told me that they could check me in over the phone as a walk in and to come down immediately. Turns out that my dog had eaten 7-8 rocks that needed to be removed asap. My dog was in for surgery at 8am the next day and done before Banfield would have even had me drop her off (not even an appt, just a drop off to be evaluated later in the day). Because of this type of situation where my dog urgently needed to be seen and helped, I just don't feel that Banfield is prepared to handle anything other than routine wellness visits. Unfortunately I will not be taking my dogs back. I would suggest that the staff begin encouraging their patients to go elsewhere in a situation like this where they are unable to help in a decent amount of time.
